Practice Driving in Florida
A) Get On the Road

With a Florida learner’s license you can only drive:
- With a licensed driver (21 years old and up) in the front passenger seat
- During daylight hours for the first three months
- Until 10 p.m. AFTER you complete your first three months of practice
You must clock at least 50 hours of driving time, 10 of which must be at night. To keep track of your hours, maintain a driver log that covers time of day and road conditions.
B) Get Parent or Guardian Certification of Completion
Once you finish your 50 hours behind the wheel, you must also obtain parent or guardian certification that you completed the required practice hours. For more on this, visit the state site.
