Practice Driving in Alaska
A) Get On the Road
If you are younger than 18 years old, you must hold a valid instruction permit for at least 6 months before applying for a provisional driver license. While practicing behind the wheel, keep the following in check:
- You must be accompanied by a passenger who is 21 years old or older.
- Your passenger must hold a valid driver license and have a minimum of 1 year of driving experience.
You must also clock at least 40 hours of driving experience, including a minimum of 10 hours driving in challenging circumstances (inclement weather, nighttime driving, etc.).
B) Get Parent or Guardian Certification of Completion
Once you complete at least 40 hours of practice time behind the wheel, you must have your parent, legal guardian or employer provide proof.
